Easing the Symptoms of Fibromyalgia

If you have,  or know someone with fibromyalgia, you are aware of the  chronic, widespread pain the sufferer must endure.  There is no cure for fibromyalgia and the exact cause of the illness is unknown. in addition to pain, fibromyalgia patients experience fatigue, restless leg syndrome, bowel problems, numbness, and sensitivity to light and sound. With so many symptoms, vitamin deficiencies are often discovered during the diagnostic process. Two of the most common deficiencies discovered in patients with fibromyalgia are vitamins D and B12.

Vitamin D and Chronic Pain

Vitamin D often is called the "sunshine vitamin" because it is manufactured by the body through sunlight's activity on the skin. Scientific research suggests a link between Vitamin D deficiency and chronic pain. It also indicates a strong correlation with fibromyalgia. A recent study found fibromyalgia patients with attendant Vitamin D deficiency reported less pain over time when taking Vitamin D supplements.

Vitamin B-12 and Fatigue

Patients with fibromyalgia often feel exhausted, particularly in the morning, in addition to experiencing chronic pain. Research suggests that a higher intake of B vitamins can help alleviate some of that fatigue. B vitamins help restore energy and help the body respond effectively to stress. B12 deficiency has also been linked to restless leg syndrome and other central nervous system symptoms associated with Fibromyalgia.

A Daily Regimen

For those who suffer from fibromyalgia, there are many lifestyle techniques that can help get through the worst days. Research suggests that a lack of vitamins can contribute to pain, anxiety, weakness, and exhaustion. For many, nutritional supplement therapy may be the key to reducing the pain and fatigue of fibromyalgia and returning to a happy, active life.

A daily regimen of nutritional supplements including Vitamins D and B12 can help alleviate many of the symptoms of fibromyalgia.. But for many people, taking a handful of oral supplements every day is both inconvenient and complicated. A more convenient option is self-administered, transdermal nutrient patches from Nutri-Patch, time released vitamin supplements absorbed through a patch worn on the skin.
